Patron Deb Court shares bird nutcrackers--adorable!

bird nutcrackersbird nutcrackers

Stop by the library to see our current display in the display case in the foyer. Patron Deb Court is sharing her bird nutcrackers with us. Thanks Deb! They are delightful!

Unlike Christmas nutcrackers, these cute little birds can be displayed all year round. 2010 will mark the fourteenth consecutive bird nutcracker design to be released in the series. The designers are Christian, Gunther and Ines Ulbricht. The first in the series was the “woodpecker”. It is a replica of a nutcracker originally designed by Otto Ulbricht in 1933 to commemorate the birth of his son, Christian Ulbricht. The Frame Workshop of Appleton is an area dealer.

How to prevent e.mail address book hijacking

This summer, we have heard of several patrons and friends whose e.mail address books have been hijacked. This happens if the password you are using on your e.mail is too simple and easily deduced. The following is an article by Steve of WorldStart.com. He has a great tip about this. Good luck protecting your accounts everyone!

We all know that simple passwords are dangerous. If you're using any of the following for passwords (or forms thereof), you probably aren't as secure as you think:

  • Names Of Pets
  • Birth date
  • Last 4 digits of your SS#
  • Kid's Names
  • Grandkid's Names
  • Parent's Names
  • Addresses
  • Phone Numbers

Did I catch you? Well, it gets even worse!

Even if you're not using any of the above, but are still using simple words (like car, bike, etc) for your passwords, you’re accounts are still pretty easy to break into.

Now, a better password looks more like this:

Project Colette: Rock the library vote!

The last day of voting for Colette in the Corel Art Contest is Tuesday, August 31. We need one massive final PUSH to have Colette in the finals.

Please vote yourself and encourage others. We don't have proof of this but it is literally possible that Colette is the ONLY librarian entered in the contest.

Thanks for putting Seymour, the Muehl Public Library and Colette on the map! Click on the picture:
