Jericho is another example of an involved patron and community member who has great ideas and she is willing to share! She has ownership in her library and we love that!
She came by a few years ago with the idea to create a pacifier tree in the backyard of our library. When children are ready they are encouraged to leave their pacifier on the tree (a rite of passage) and get a free book from the library called NO MORE PACIFIER DUCK. (Michael Dahl; Oriol Vidal)
Naturally, a tree in Wisconsin takes a beating from the weather. The best part is that Jericho makes sure the tree is refreshed each year.
Thank you so much Jericho. We appreciate you. And the love you have shared with your community.
The poem posted is adorable:
“Thank you for the pacifier
That you left kindly in the tree
It shows how you have grown up
To be as brave as you can be.”
