Children’s literature talents lost in 2023

Ripples in water

Sadly, we lost a lot of top-notch talent from the children’s literature world in 2023. The good news is that their books are their legacies and live on at public libraries. Rest in peace:

  • Ian Falconer, the creator of Olivia.
  • Eve Bunting, wrote loads of books. This is a favorite for Christmas.
  • Byron Barton, wrote and illustrated charming books for kids learning to read.
  • Mary Ann Hoberman, she had a gift for teaching reading.
  • Ed Young, his illustrations were magnificent.
  • Susan Patron, believed that hope was something every kid deserves.
