Each open Monday morning, we have a story time at 10:30 at our library. At the story time I focus on the pre-literacy skills of singing, playing, reading, writing and talking. Kids and caregivers begin arriving at 10:00 to play and visit and check out. After we are done with story time at 11:00, kids and caregivers go back to playing and visiting and browsing. This year has been especially fun because the families get along so well with each other. For stay-at-home moms, coming to the library helps them to make connections and form friendships. They swap news and information. We will miss this family who are moving to Delaware: Molly (mom) and children Will and Oliver. On March 31 we had a little farewell for them with a pinata story time. I love that positive bonds happen at the library!
*The tiny pinata was just the right size for our littles.
*Will takes the first three whacks at the pinata! (Mom standing and laughing in the background.)
*Baby brother Oliver plays with the (broken) pinata on his own.
